A Clean, Well-Lighted Place

In the text, I think they did a good job describing how dark and creepy the old man looked sitting outside.  They said that he was sitting in the shadows of a tree.  In the film, he was sitting in the clean, well lighted café and that kind of took away some of the symbolism inside the story.  It also wasn’t as creepy.  Also, in the credits, the café looked like a really old dusty place and that’s what I was expecting and then on the inside it looked like a modern café.

The film really portrayed the characters really well but they left out some key parts.  Like when the waiter was telling the old man to kill himself.  The film also did a good job of creating short conversation between the two waiters.  The younger waiter was really mean to the old man and the older waiter could relate to the old man because some people didn’t have a place to go in the night and the café serves as a nice, cozy place for some people.
